Water in Fleurhof safe for consumption

Johannesburg Water confirms that tap water in Fleurhof is safe for consumption.

Fleurhof residents can now breathe a collective sigh of relief as Johannesburg Water (JW) has confirmed that their tap water is now safe for consumption.

During a visit by the Roodepoort Record, residents confirmed that when they opened their taps on August 1, discoloured water was coming out and residents were notified to refrain from consuming the water until further notice.

Mobile water tanks were deployed in the area for the residents to use, and water samples were taken by JW for testing.

“The water supply will gradually be opened through the reticulation system. Flushing is required to eliminate air from pipes before the full pressure is restored,” reads a statement sent to the Record by the JW communication and marketing team.

Ward councillor Caleb Finn says there are still reports that the water smells in some parts of the area, but this has again been reported to JW.
