Eikenhof Substation: Some areas with water; other areas taps are still dry

Numerous boreholes are available around Roodepoort for residents to collect water for the time being.

Residents were left with low water pressure and some without water on March 5 after one of the isolators at the Eikenhof Substation experienced a ‘flashover’ on the evening of March 4.

DA ward councillor Zoné Hughes released a statement saying that City Power completed repairs last night (March 5) on the second feeder board at Eikenhof, to allow Rand Water to start pumping at 100% capacity.

“Whether they have started pumping at 100% is still unknown and an update in this regard has been requested,” said Hughes.

She added some areas feeding off a direct line have this morning reported that water has returned.

“Numerous councillors have asked for an updated list of where tankers will be during today, for residents who still do not have water. Once this is received from Joburg Water it will be shared.”
