A statement released by City Power confirmed they have completed repairs and testing on one of the two feeder boards affected by last night’s flashover.
City Power spokesperson Isaac Mangena stated the feeder board has successfully energised, allowing City Power to restore 50% of the power supply to Rand Water.

“This allows them to start pumping water at half their capacity to feed their customers that were affected,” said Mangena.

He added they are continuing to repair the second feeder board, which bore most of the impact of the unfortunate incident.
“The work will involve replacing the damaged insulators and replacing one of the faulty breakers, we are still confident of restoring 100% power supply by this evening as initially planned,” he concluded.
