Courageous officer defies the odds

A well-respected security officer makes a remarkable recovery after being shot in the hand during a robbery.

A security officer was shot in the hand during a robbery at Retail Crossing on Florin Road at about 14:30 on July 13.

Multiple security companies, the police, and medical services responded to the scene. Upon arrival, it was discovered that a security officer had been shot in the hand.

According to eyewitnesses, the perpetrators robbed staff and clients at a clothing store before fleeing the scene. As they exited the centre, they encountered a reaction officer from BCI Security Protection Services and began shooting at him, possibly mistaking him for a responding officer.

They fired multiple shots at the officer, hitting him once in the hand. He managed to escape to safety, and one of the suspects took his security vehicle, which was later found abandoned on the side of the road.

Security officers who were on the scene apprehended one of the suspects involved in the robbery, who is currently in police custody. The brave officer was transported to a nearby facility for medical attention and is undergoing surgery.
