JUST IN: Kidnapped businessman rescued

Butchery owner Mark Ramos is safe at home eight days after being kidnapped outside his workplace in Florida.

A local businessman who was kidnapped from outside his business in Albertina Sisulu Road in Florida last week, has been found.

Mark Ramos, owner of Bulk Pack Meats, was accosted outside his place of work at about 6am on Monday, June 24 by seven men, who pulled into the parking area seconds after Ramos in two Mercedes-Benzes.

Ramos was forced into one of the vehicles at gunpoint before the vehicles sped off.

The Roodepoort Record followed events around the kidnapping closely, deciding not to publish anything for fear that widespread publication of the incident may lead to further harm coming to the victim.

A social media post about Ramos’ alleged rescue was confirmed this morning by local security company Help24’s CEO Sheldon Grobler, who says that Ramos was rescued in a combined effort between police and private security companies.

The Record contacted provincial police spokesperson Colonel Mavela Masondo, for further information, and was informed that a media release would be made available later today.
