Alleged gate motor thieves nabbed by vigilant security patroller

Three alleged gate motor thieves were arrested in Constantia Kloof in the early morning hours of Thursday.

Three people were arrested for alleged gate motor theft in the early hours of May 9 after a private security patroller noticed suspicious activity.

At 02:03, a Beagle Watch patroller requested assistance after noticing a vehicle making a U-turn on Reinette Drive and followed the vehicle to Craig Street, where another security company assisted in blocking the vehicle.

The three occupants driving a white Hyundai, were found in possession of a gate motor as well as various tools used for stealing gate motors. Beagle Watch’s crime specialist Leon van Zyl was on the scene to assist the patroller and also called for further assistance.

According to Beagle Watch’s area manager Cobus Botes, the three were arrested and taken to the Florida Police Station for further questioning.

“The arrest was made possible by our patrollers’ vigilance. Additionally, the CCTV department began tracking the car using our network of CCTV cameras in public areas.

“They then reported that the vehicle had travelled from Bassonia in Johannesburg’s southern suburbs and entered the Constantia Kloof area from William Nicol Drive,” Botes said.

By ensuring that community members’ safety is their top priority, Botes and his team continue to serve the community.
