Fleurs’ murder suspects make second court appearance

Six suspects in connection with Luke Fleurs' murder and hijacking make their second court appearance.

The six suspects arrested in connection with the murder and hijacking of Kaizer Chiefs defender Luke Fleurs made their second appearance in the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court on April 19.

Fleurs (24) was shot and killed before his car was hijacked at a petrol station in Constantia Kloof on April 3 after two armed men in a white BMW 1 Series approached his vehicle while he was waiting to be helped by an attendant.

The suspects are charged with murder, robbery and aggravation, possession of firearm and ammunition and defeating the ends of justice.

According to prosecutor Linda Duma, the documents for the suspect’s bail application were not present on the day of their second appearance, therefore the case was postponed pending the state receiving all documents.

The case was postponed to April 25 and the suspects remain in custody.
