Police uncover drug manufacturing site at storage facility in Welties
Police uncover a drug manufacturing site filled with equipment at a self-storage facility in Weltevreden Park.

The Organised Crime Tracing and Narcotics Unit provided police with information on drug manufacturing equipment stored at a self-storage facility in Weltevreden Park on March 28.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo, the information was operationalised and the group located the building and its complex manager.

“The person who rented the storage was called to the premises but he failed to avail himself,” Masondo said.

When police opened the storage unit, they discovered mandrax tablets, chemicals, and equipment that may have been used to process and make drugs.

“No arrests have been made and an investigation is underway and we continue to search for the suspect,” says Masondo.
