BOLO – Edmund Street armed house robbery suspects got away

The three suspects got away in a bronze-coloured A-Class Mercedes-Benz vehicle.

A home invasion which happened in Edmund Street on October 17 left residents filled with fear as crime is on the rise within their neighbourhood.

It has been reported that two panic signals were received at around 17:00, which prompted a swift reaction by security companies. It is believed that on arrival the response units noticed the main gate was open, after which they could see two males wearing masks and gloves frantically getting into a bronze-coloured A-Class Mercedes-Benz.

According to a report issued by the security company, they attempted to block these suspects in the driveway, but they reversed into their vehicle.

“The reaction officer exited his vehicle and one of the suspects pointed a pistol at him and he retaliated by firing seven rounds into the vehicle, which was speeding off, scraping against a neighbouring wall as it drove away,” a media statement issued by the security company said.

An investigation later revealed that the three suspects had entered the premises by lifting the gate off the rail and moving it aside. There was no damage to any of the doors or gates leading into the home, but the client stated that they normally leave the house keys in the security gate, so it is assumed the suspects used the keys to enter the home.

All three suspects were armed – one with a firearm, one with a stun baton, and the other with the head of a pickaxe.

Once inside the suspects were confronted by the client, his elderly mother, and his son. The suspects grabbed the elderly woman and started asking where valuables could be found. The family complied and were mostly unharmed.

The woman sustained a shoulder injury but declined medical attention.

The suspects got away with jewellery, two laptops, three gaming controllers, two TVs, a sound system, house keys and remotes.

The police were contacted and dispatched.

Following an update, it has been reported that the security company has picked up on a gunmetal-grey Mercedes T245 B200. According to the footage from a nearby CCTV pole, the vehicle came past Edmund Street at 16:48 and returned at 16:54.

“We have a registration on the vehicle, but it comes out on a white Mercedes T245. The family is welcome to get the investigating officer to contact us to do the release docs and share the case number so we can flag it,” the statement read.
