Life Wilgeheuwel Hospital welcomes new Orthopaedic specialist

Dr Grey grew up on the East Rand and completed his MBChB degree at the University of the Free State in 2011.

He spread his wings and completed his Orthopaedic surgery master’s degree at Stellenbosch University. He has enjoyed eight blessed years working in the orthopaedic surgery department and refining his skill set.

His love for the ocean and west coast landscape was not enough to keep him from grabbing the opportunity to start his new Orthopaedic surgery practice at Life Wilgeheuwel Hospital. He has combined forces with a very prominent shoulder surgeon, Dr J Strobos. Together they provide a world-class shoulder surgery service and Dr Grey also attends to the rest of the musculoskeletal pathology.

With a special interest in Arthroplasty and shoulder surgery, Dr Grey aims to provide his patients with a positive patient experience and quality clinical care and outcomes.

Dr Grey is a proud father of three boys with a daughter on the way. As a family, they enjoy camping, cycling and looking for crystals with their sons. Dr Grey loves to build Lego with his boys. He believes life is too short not to indulge in your inner child and enjoy the simpler things in life.

Dr JP Grey’s motto is, “Enjoy every day as if it’s your last. Do not take chances with your health and always ensure that your medical aid and gap cover is up to date. You never know when you or a family member may fall ill or get injured”.

From a young age, Dr Grey had a keen interest in design, three-dimensional thinking and problem-solving. From there the step toward Orthopaedic surgery felt very natural. If he could give one important piece of advice for his patients it would be to get out and get active.
