Skye College will prepare your child with the competencies, knowledge and habits needed to Thrive today and in the future

They are a new private school based in Honeydew Ridge

Skye College’s contemporary private Preschool, Preparatory and High School is doing education differently.

They’re striving to create a school that equips learners, teachers, and parents to thrive in life with a custom-designed campus in Honeydew Ridge that offers education from 3 months to Grade 8 in 2023.

Their fees range from R 2 800 – R 5 150 per month in the Preschool, from R 4 650 in the Prep School and from R 5 150 in the High School.

They are a Cambridge registered school, where their preschool follows a Montessori-inspired approach. They work towards achieving the outcomes of the Early Years Foundation Phase program from the UK to align with the Cambridge Curriculum expectations of their Preparatory and High School.

Their focus throughout their school revolves around their academic rigour, socio-emotional learning and wellness, self-paced learning for each learner and the development of positive habits that equip learners to thrive in life.

  1. Self-paced for Optimal Engagement

Children learn best when work is at a “just right” level of difficulty (the sweet spot between boring and frustrating). They therefore create opportunities for self-paced learning in sequential subjects like Math and English. This means children can work at their own pace, remaining optimally engaged, rather than progressing at the average speed of the class.

  1. A Foundation of Research-Driven Best Practice

We have invested years in research and development. We are equipped with a deep understanding of what works in schools, and what it takes to equip students to thrive in life. We exclusively use approaches with a proven track record for maximizing student success.

  1. Integration of Technology

They say “yes” to technology by incorporating the use of learner devices where they add true value; for example as part of their artificial intelligence enabled personalised learning (Math and reading practice at a “just-right” level for your child); as part of their project-based learning initiatives; as part of “flipped lessons” where content is delivered via learners’ devices, allowing classroom time to be spent in deep learning through discussion and collaboration.

  1. Teaching of Co-created Curriculum

At Skye College, teachers are guided by, and work towards the outcomes of the Cambridge curriculum and its exams.

At Skye College they intentionally develop good habits that ensure future health, happiness and resilience. From the healthy, home-cooked meals they serve, to the relational and self-care habits they foster through our socio-emotional programmes; they help your child lay down rails that will keep them on track when life gets tough.

  1. Our Thriveway

At Skye College, your child will experience the Thriveway. The Thriveway is a journey of learning opportunities and interactions that will prepare your child with the competencies, knowledge and habits needed to thrive – today and in the future.

The Thriveway will equip your child to become a relationship builder, to develop their full potential, to make a meaningful contribution to their future world and to cultivate habits that set them up for success.

THRIVING is defined by being a

This is their dream for your child. A dream that guides the design of their facilities, informs their curriculum development and guides how they interact with your child every day. A dream that helps them shape the future.

They look forward to welcoming you and your child to the Skye College family.
