Choose your resolutions wisely this year

Think before you make a bunch of changes.

Each year, usually at the end of it, most of us put together a list of – sometimes ridiculous – changes we’d like to implement in our lives. It usually goes something along the lines of: “Go to the gym and exercise, save money for future plans, eat fewer takeaways, eat healthier, drink more water” … and so on.

While most of those are completely doable, most people don’t accomplish them all. We are comfortable in our routines, often scared of change, and, above all else, creatures of habit.

This year, why not take one resolution and focus on that one change in your daily life? For instance, cutting out fast food. Rather than trying to accomplish several big changes in your lifestyle, stand back and choose one and start with that one resolution. Once that has been followed through, take on a new one (you don’t have to wait for a new year to make a positive change in your life!).

This can help reduce the stress and pressure of taking on too many resolutions, as well as the sinking feeling when you realise you have failed to accomplish any of your resolutions.
