Young humanitarians on two wheels took on the great outdoors for a good cause.

The junior cycle team from the Muscular Dystrophy Foundation of South Africa (MDFSA) has been training hard for their showpiece event at the end of the year. In preparation for the 947 Ride Joburg cycle race, The Little Heroes of Hope took a ride around the Bothongo Rhino and Lion Nature Reserve on May 20.

The Little Heroes of Hope is a team of young children who cycle to raise awareness and donations for the MDFSA’s Gauteng branch. The team participates in the 947 Ride Joburg kids race every year and in 2023 will be doing several rides to raise awareness and support for the non-profit organisation based in Florida Park.

“These young children are raising awareness and donations to support our organisation in rendering services to people affected with muscular dystrophy. We need as much support as possible; the bigger the team becomes, the more awareness and funds will be generated through it,” said MDFSA’s business development manager, Robert Scott.

“They received amazing support from everyone on the road and they generated some amazing awareness for our organisation on the day. They did this ride to encourage others to join in and support us,” added Robert.

The team is open to everyone and for any children who would like to join, parents can contact Robert on mdfgauteng@mdsa.org.za.
