The SA Guide-Dogs Association is turning 70!

The goal of this event is to raise much-needed funds to continue changing the lives of our country's visually and physically disabled citizens.

The South African Guide-Dogs Association for the Blind is pleased to announce its annual Family Fun Day Fundraising Event, which will take place on the Association’s premises on Sunday, March 5.

This year’s event has the theme “Birthday Bash!” in honour of their 70th birthday. The goal of this event is to raise much-needed funds to continue changing the lives of our country’s visually and physically disabled citizens.

“We have a fun-filled program planned for the day with lots of exciting activities,” explained Pieter van Niekerk, SA Guide-Dogs Association’s Head of Public Relations.

“Our puppies in training are practicing hard to put their best paw forward along with their trainers. Our kennel staff is getting ready to share information with our visitors during our kennel tours while exhilarating demonstrations from our Assistance, Service, and Guide Dogs await spectators in the arena. We will also have our dog races throughout the day as this will add lots of fun and laughter to the celebrations.”

The Orientation and Mobility team is planning exciting activities that will challenge visitors to step outside of their comfort zone and into the shoes of a visually impaired person. The Kids Zone promises to be a lot of fun, and the GDA is looking forward to seeing the kids there.

Visitors can enjoy all of the entertainment in the arena while sipping on some bubbly at the Beer Garden and shopping for tasty food and interesting items from the many vendors on hand on the day.

“We are proudly sponsored by Suzuki Kyalami and Mix Fm will be broadcasting live from our premises. We appeal to the public to support us in our ongoing mission to continue changing lives for the visually and physically disabled.”
