Whatever the scorecard says, South African summer audiences will be up for this second test, and the third which starts in Sydney on January 4. With the first balls of the day being bowled around midnight in South Africa, many will not get to enjoy a full days cricket on the couch taking advantage of these magical days between Christmas and New Years Eve.

If you are travelling this week, why not show some Protea fire with a time killing game of Car Cricket. All you will need is a vehicle with passengers and a paper or device to keep score. Step one is to decide the batting order then using the assortment of oncoming vehicles, tally up your runs accordingly.

White, silver and grey cars are worth one run, black cars are worth two runs and any other colour besides red is worth three runs. Bakkies and motorcycles are worth four runs while busses and trucks earn you a coveted maximum. Push the run rate until you see a red vehicle which gives you the umpires dreaded index finger and a trip back to the proverbial shed.

The innings permutations are endless and one will be surprised how quick the clock ticks over and each kilometre to your destination is eaten away.
