Have you ever wondered who the friendly, white-bearded Santa Claus is with whom so many people pose for photos? Behind the red and white suit, oversized belly, and friendly smile is a humble man doing his part to make the holiday season magical for children of all ages.
Emile Mouton, who will be 80 next month, has been playing Santa Claus for four years and counting. Emile declared that the Christmas season is one of his favourite times of year because it allows him to bring joy to so many families.
“One thing I’ve noticed since Covid-19 is that the kids are really excited to meet Santa this year,” Emile added.
While he is an experienced Santa, his two companions, Banele Mbuli and Robin Julius, who play Santa’s helpers, are new to the festive occasion. Even though they aren’t used to the family-friendly crowds and children running around, they are doing an excellent job of spreading the joy with big smiles and lots of patience.
Look for Santa and his team as you walk through Cradlestone Mall; they’ll be there until December 24 to capture some beautiful Christmas memories with you.
