Management of Curro Academy Wilgeheuwel reflect on the successes of 2022

Curro Academy Wilgehuewel excelled both academically and on the sport field in 2022.

The management team of Curro Academy Wilgeheuwel, led by Executive Head Mrs Oriol Morgan reflect on the past year. Collectively, they write:

“2022 has been a very different year. As we navigated our way out of Covid we were confronted with many challenges and opportunities that have stretched and grown us, far more than we could ever have imagined.

“It has been extremely rewarding to have the preschool parents come on campus and share in the everyday school life of their children. Events came back to life, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Sports Day and Grandparents’ Day all celebrated as a community. We will wrap up our Pre-School year with our end of year concert leaving a taste of what’s to come next year!

“The primary school has enjoyed the resurrection of all activities after the lockdown restrictions were lifted. Learners have had the opportunity to once again get involved in the many sporting and cultural activities offered at the school, giving every learner an opportunity to try new things, forge lasting relationships and develop their skills. We also held our first annual production after two years. We look forward to re-incorporating even more in the coming year, such as our annual grade camps, as well as expanding and improving on a few of our facilities.

“The High School have largely continued to focus on the pastoral development of our learners. Through the value add implementation of CurrageCall, we have placed emphasis on learner character development, integrity and ubuntu. Our staff and learners continued to succeed academically with staff and learners recognized in the Johannesburg West Education District and in Curro.

“In February 2022 we were awarded with top results in our district for Mathematical Literacy, Geography and Accounting as well as two learners achieving highest marks in Accounting and CAT (Computer Applied Technology). Our 2021 Head Girl was named the Top NSC Independent school learner. This same learner achieved 2nd place overall nationally in the Curro Academy and Meridian schools.

“Finally our sport remained strong and we competed competitively across the board. We were crowned winners of the Independent Soccer League in three age groups and inaugural winners of the St Andrews Football tournament. We would like to thank our parents, staff and greater community for their continued support throughout this year.”
