Gabrielle releases Superwoman

While many people consider vulnerability to be a weakness, Gabrielle views it as a strength.

Gabrielle de Gama, a young local artist, has released her new single titled ‘Superwoman,’ which is about women empowerment.

She is best known for her hit debut single ‘Nasty’ from 2021. The song was released to critical acclaim and charted on various South African radio stations. The song not only put the young starlet on the map as a singer, but it also started a conversation about bullying and gave Gabrielle a platform to speak freely and be a role model for young people.

Her new single, ‘Superwoman,’ raises a new issue, that of female empowerment.

“The song is about how we all have imperfections, make daily mistakes, but it is important to dust ourselves off and be happy with who we are,” Gabrielle explains. “We, as young women, should focus on the positive and use it to motivate ourselves and others to face the world on a daily basis. We should embrace our insecurities and turn them into a strength.”

While many people consider vulnerability to be a weakness, Gabrielle views it as a strength. According to the singer, someone who allows themselves to be vulnerable is secure in who they are and comfortable with their emotions, and “that is something very beautiful”.

The singer-songwriter believes that this song will resonate with anyone who struggles with self-image or is not completely confident in themselves.
“This applies to most people,” she said, “because it is rare for someone to be completely satisfied with themselves.”

So, what defines a ‘Superwoman?’ Gabrielle defines this as qualities such as bravery, courage, and kindness. Most importantly, it entails disregarding other people’s opinions and remaining focused on the mission assigned to her.

She would like to focus on beauty standards and social media influence as a critical issue. This is a major issue in our society, and not everyone conforms to the accepted standard of beauty as portrayed in the media and on the internet.

“This is a big mental challenge for teenagers,” she says. “Young people are being pressed to meet near-impossible standards. This is not the message we should be sending to young girls.”

The song not only addresses this important issue, but it is also uplifting, and it is hoped that it will touch the hearts of both men and women around the world.
Having said that, this does not imply that things will be easy, as they have not been for Gabrielle.

“Some days I don’t feel like a superwoman,” she says, “but it’s in these times that I’ve learned to shift my focus and appreciate my quirks.”

“I am God’s creation, and I know that every part of me serves a purpose.”

“I firmly believe that how you feel about yourself will be projected onto others and will influence how others perceive you, which is why self-belief is so important.”

Gabrielle would like to encourage her listeners not to associate with people who stereotype others, but rather to form friendships with people who share their values.

She says that women empowerment is important because in the past women were severely overlooked and were given very specific gender roles that limited them in achieving their goals.
