Chanté excels at swimming championship

This prestigious gala drew 670 swimmers from 46 clubs from across the provinces. Some of the SA Olympic swimmers also competed in this gala.

Chanté Joubert, a grade 10 learner at Crawford International Ruimsig, was chosen as a member of her Swimming Club Team, Crusaders, to represent Central Gauteng Aquatics (CGA) at the Seagulls Short Course Championship, which was held from October 6 to 9 at Kings Park Pool in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal.

Chanté competed in 10 events and was also chosen to swim for her club in the Girls 16 year 4 x 50m Freestyle relay at this inter-club provincial gala.

Chanté had a great gala and swam five personal best times at the coast out of her 10 events entered, finishing in the Top 20 for all of them.

Over the course of four days, she participated in the following events:
1) 100m Freestyle, finished in the top 20 in her age group (15-16 years).
2) 400m Freestyle
3) 50m Freestyle
4) 100m Backstroke, top 20 in her age group (15-16 years)
5) 50m Backstroke
6) 200m Freestyle
7) 800m Freestyle, Top 20 in open category
8) 200m Backstroke, Top 20 in open category
9) 200m IM, Top 20 in her age group (15-16 years)
10) 50m Butterfly stroke.
