On Saturday, October 1 Nova Pioneer Ruimsig’s campus was filled with excitement and anticipation as the staff and families came together for their first Soap Box Derby.

The mood was festive as the field was filled with many food and other stalls, jumping castles, and fancy-dressed learners and staff. Each grade came dressed according to a different theme to add to the fun and create a sense of team spirit.

Teachers and parents supported their learners by also dressing up. Dress themes ranged from 80s disco, grannies and grandpas, to dragons and fairies, and many more.

Learners had fun racing against each other in their go-carts around a well-marked race track. Parents and fellow learners cheered and sang throughout the races, creating a wonderful atmosphere. The race ended with parents and teachers taking to the tracks to compete against each other. This was incredibly fun to watch.

The morning extended to a fun day with many carnival games, music and a family picnic. The day was filled with happiness, laughter, and a true sense of family as teachers, parents, and learners came together.

“We are also very proud and grateful to our parents for their continued support of all school events. The day was an epic success and we look forward to making this an annual event,” concluded Carla Hercules.
