The non-profit Cupcakes of Hope, which assists children with cancer throughout South Africa, is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year by hosting National Cupcake Day events across the country.

National Cupcake Day will be celebrated in Roodepoort at Clearwater Mall from 08:00 to 17:00. You can expect a variety of delectable cupcakes baked by Cupcake Angels, all made with love and ready to enjoy! For a small donation you can have the cupcake of your dreams while also helping a child in need.

With a national target of R10 million to be raised, the funds will allow Cupcakes of Hope to continue providing much-needed support to hundreds of young cancer patients and their families each month.

This includes paying for their medical bills as well as other necessities ranging from diapers to nutrition and everything in between. This organisation’s patient support has more than doubled since 2021. Over 240 young cancer patients received financial assistance last month alone, with the youngest being only five months old.

“My mom is no longer here. I would like to encourage each person fighting this battle that you are not alone,” said Cupcake Angel Lucretia Peterson who lost her mom to cancer and will be baking on the day. “We are all rooting for you to come out stronger on the other side,” she added.

“Cupcakes of Hope is not just a platform where we help children with cancer. Volunteering to honour our friends and loved ones who have been affected by cancer brings joy, healing and purpose to so many of us,” said Sandy Cipriano, founder of Cupcakes of Hope. “It is also a way to pay it forward and make new friends, who become family.”
