Heartbeat of The EARTH Centre dances to the rhythms of the drum circle

From a slow beat to an inescapable trance the drum circle consumes.

To celebrate Heritage Day, The EARTH Centre NPC welcomed guests to feel the rhythm of a tribal hum. All facing the fire, the drumming experience united visitors of all hues through the sound and vibrations of unstructured free-flow bongo drumming. For an hour and a half between 17:30 and 19:00, the beat pounded as the twilight faded from dusk to fire-lit darkness.

The September 24 event was also used to mark the solar Equinox, welcoming longer days and shorter nights. Many took the opportunity to don some for of traditional dress and once the enchantment of the drumming faded, revellers relaxed the senses with sweat treats, pizza, bubble tea or hot chocolate in the specially set up piazza.

For the fundraising event, food was sponsored by Doppio Zero Cradlestone, Home Bake Valley View and Pizza Del Forno Featherbrooke. Putting a horsey twist on the menu, the pizzas on offer adopted new names in line with the personalities of chosen horses – Melodie for a sophisticated Regina, Bo for the chilled Hawaiian, Diego the spicy Mexicana and Jeep for the complicated bacon, feta and avo.

The NPC has roughly 50 volunteers and their core function is providing horse-riding activities to children with disabilities and learning difficulties. Under the banner, ‘creating hope through horses’, The EARTH Centre uses the majestic beasts to provide therapy riding, special-needs orientated equitheraphy and horse-based learning experiences.
