Andrew aims to amuse the audience

His vision for the Roodepoort Little Theatre's future is to move it from the basement to the main stage of the Roodepoort Theatre once again.

Andrew Palmer, 46, was drawn into the wonderful world of theatre after working as a door stewart and then as a bartender at his local theatre.

“The theatre productions piqued my interest, so I asked if I could audition for one of the plays. The rest, as they say, is history,” Andrew explained.

He has been a member of the Roodepoort Little Theatre (RLT) community for over two years and says his favourite part of the theatre is playing any role that can make the audience laugh.

“If I can make someone laugh, I consider my job done.”

While Palmer hasn’t been a member of the RLT community for many years he said he aspired to play a role that could keep the audience completely engrossed in his performance while also making them laugh.

When Palmer isn’t amusing the audience he spends his time gardening and making things from recycled materials; he also enjoys cooking a hearty meal at the end of the day.

His vision for the RLT’s future is to move it from the basement to the main stage of the Roodepoort Theatre once again.

Palmer’s final piece of advice to those reading this and are debating whether or not to pursue their dreams is that life is too short to be concerned with what other people think; do what makes you happy and who knows, you might just change someone’s life forever.

“I have some regrets.”
