“Dr Van der Westhuizen, or Dr Wessie as he is affectionately called, has been a core member of the general practitioner team at Medicross Roodepoort since the doors first opened in 1999. During this time his hard work and dedication towards providing exceptional care with a human touch have been an inspiration to all those fortunate enough to work alongside him,” Salome Liebenberg, general manager of operations at Medicross said.

“Throughout his distinguished career Dr Wessie has served the local community with the utmost pride and professionalism, and is well known for always putting the patient first. He has treated generations of families and has been a source of comfort and support to many in moments when they were at their most vulnerable.”

Dr Van der Westhuizen noted that he has taken the difficult but necessary decision to retire for medical reasons.

“I wish to thank all my patients for placing their trust in me and for their ongoing support these many years. I will forever be grateful to the community, my colleagues and the staff here at Medicross Roodepoort, where I have spent my time doing that which I love most,” he said.
