Ogle Foundation visits Princess Primary

Up to seven million South African girls do not have access or cannot afford sanitary products, and have no other option but to stay at home and miss school.

On Tuesday, September 6 the Ogle Foundation NPC paid a visit to Princess Primary School as part of their well-known sanitary towel campaign.

The foundation is a Roodepoort-based non-profit company run by many dedicated volunteers who aim to provide support, help and development opportunities to less fortunate members of the community.

As part of the campaign, NPC founder Patty Ogle and her team visit local, often underprivileged schools in hopes of empowering the young girls by providing them with the most basic necessity for women’s hygiene – sanitary towels.

Their visit to Princess Primary was no exception when the school’s Grades 5, 6 and 7 girls gathered in the school hall to receive the much-needed donation. Although it’s routine for Patty to speak with the girls about menstruation and personal hygiene, it wasn’t possible this time around due to the school’s tight schedule.

“We would’ve loved to speak with the girls, but unfortunately it wasn’t possible today. Luckily, we were still able to provide each girl with at least two packets, each filled with eight pads, to help them through their next cycle,” she said.

The approximately 180 girls were grateful to receive the much-appreciated donation.

The girls are thankful for the much-needed donation.

“Thank you to the Ogle Foundation for choosing our girls as beneficiaries of their campaign. The learners are truly thankful for the thoughtful contribution,” Nhlanhla Ntshikilana from the school concluded.
