Lil Choices hold boerewors roll sale to raise money for option counselling facility

A focused charitable cause keeps the possibilities of the unborn alive.

Lil Choices option counselling centre held a boerewors-roll sale fundraiser at their Dan Pienaar Avenue facility on August 27.

Loyal supporters, Alchemy Cycling, stopped by after their morning ride to pick up 30 halaal sausage delights as residents and committee cook up another 50 or so rolls for orders and passers-by. All funds raised went for the care and education of residents at the home for women seeking an alternative to abortion.

Now with six residents, the house is guided by their stern-yet-loving matriarch, Rae Bagus. The young ladies, all over 18, receive life coaching, career guidance and basic skills training provided by volunteers and sponsors. One of the residents, who comes from Soweto but needs to keep her name confidential for family reasons, gushed with praise for Rae, saying the facility provided for every need and want while helping her grow as a person.

A glitzy gala event for supporters was due to be held earlier this month but resources were required elsewhere. Next on the calendar is their annual Senior Citizens lunch which will be held at a nearby primary school on September 18. There, Lil Choices will aim to feed and entertain between 250 to 300 elderly persons. In addition to a hot meal, the seniors get refreshments, tea, cake and ice cream.

Lil Choices has secured a volunteer chef and a sponsor for the tables and chairs, but requires one last push to finish up the basics. Should anyone be able to assist in sponsoring serving plates, cups, serviettes, utensils, ingredients for the meals or any donation towards the seniors day they are asked to please contact Rae on 082 782 6018.
