Thrifter’s paradise at car boot sale

Few things can be compared to the rush when sifting through second-hand items to find the ultimate thrifted gem.

From antique cutlery, utensils and vases to books, clothes and pillows, the Horison Methodist Church had it all at their most recent car boot sale on Saturday, August 27.

Although the ever popular sale only had a few vendors on the day, all left with cash profits in their pockets and a smile expressing their contentment at clearing their unwanted items.

With congregation members Vanessa Kilian, Lynn Göpper and André Nel behind the roadhouse food stall grill, no guest were able to resist the delectable delights.

“With our delicious hard to resist bacon and egg rolls, hamburgers, rib burgers and dagwoods on sale everyone was sure to have their hunger satisfied; even those not so hungry couldn’t resist the yummy smells,” Vanessa said.

“And not to be forgotten our White Elephant stall proved once again to be a tremendous attraction for those browsing for an incredible bargain. We are happy to announce that most the goods had been sold.”

The day was a huge success with just over R5 000 being raised – a much-needed amount to once again boost the coffers of the many ministries supported by the church.

Organisers Vanessa and Nicci Clausen thanked each person who contributed to the success of the event.
