All-female bike clan bring the rolling thunder to Little Falls for Christmas in July

Crowbar Little Falls the venue for Sunday drive for three charities close to their hearts

The roar of the engines was as fierce as the cry to give back.

In the name of charity, a colossal column of leather and metal rolled through Cascades Road. With more attitude than any reindeer and as much goodwill as Santa Claus, the season of giving received a rebellious mid-year overhaul. Hosted by rustic, family-orientated sports bar, Crowbar Little Falls, an all-female biker club and their rugged affiliates held a Christmas in July event on July 31.

The charity event aimed to raise funds for a children’s orphanage, a popular animal sanctuary in Hartbeespoort and a men’s addiction recovery facility. The women behind the event were Clan 3663 Vixens, a free-spirited, no-holds-barred, fun-loving group of biker women. Affiliated to the Crusader Motorcycle Club, they recently formed to give female bikers a chance to ride alone and can boast being the only all-female crew within the Crusader organisation.

Crowbar Little Falls is named after co-owner Charl Ferreira’s pet crow, Jimmy, and the black bird can be seen everywhere throughout the venue and their online persona. The motorcycles are fast becoming a permanent fixture in the parking lot, as the Vixens as well as their male counterparts hold their monthly meeting in Crowbar’s downstairs lair.

“We are hoping the event is a great success and to make this an annual event with more community collaborations in between,” said Crowbar’s manager, Clare Fowler.

Along with a large cash component generated through food and beverage sales, the public and the riders donated blankets, clothes, non-perishables and dog food. Crowbar themselves even split their day’s taking with the Clan as a charitable gesture.

Speaking after the event, Clan 3663’s Liezl Nel said, “For us it was an absolutely successful event. We had over 100 attendees and as our first event with Crowbar it was an incredible day”.
