Northriding College reaches out to Queen Butterfly

Mofokeng stressed the fact that she regarded the Queen Butterfly Foundation as one of the luckiest NGOs as the Roodepoort community has received it with open arms.

While every child needs love, encouragement and support, and children with developmental disabilities need these positive reinforcements even more. It can guarantee that they emerge stronger, determined to keep moving ahead in life.

It’s playtime for the children at the Queen Butterfly Foundation.

For the past seven years the Queen Butterfly Foundation has remained committed to stimulating and catering for children and young adults with profound physical and mental disabilities.

Since the NGO receives no government funding, it remains prone to financial hardship. According to its founder, Palesa Mofokeng, they rely mostly on their small group of parents and members of the community who are willing to support the crucial cause.

That’s why Palesa and her team of dedicated caregivers were overjoyed when Northriding College made a generous donation of various goods in celebration of Madiba Day. These goods included surgical gloves, tissues, wet wipes, antiseptic liquid, sanitary towels, toilet paper and face cloths to name just a few.

“We are extremely grateful for the donation as it also makes for a beautiful relationship between ourselves and Northriding College. Since they are in the process of organising their library, we were able to give back in the form of a few Bluebelle Loves Springtime books for their Foundation Phase,” Mofokeng said.

“It gets super hard at times, but when someone supports us like this, it enables us to keep moving forward and do what we are destined to do. So thank you Northriding College for your support – it means the world to us.”
