Welties tattooist leaves a mark on Mandela Day

As many collected books, knitted beanies and blankets, Winston went about celebrating Mandela Day in his own way – by offering free tattoos to cancer survivors.

Winston Moodley spent his Mandela Day on Monday, July 18 leaving a positive mark on 10 people who are fighting their battle with cancer.

“I was invited by Warriors with a Purpose. The CEO of this foundation is Rene Singh. She is a breast cancer survivor and has dedicated most of her time to raising funds and supporting the fight against breast cancer,” he explained, “I partnered with them at the Charlotte Maxeke Hospital in Johannesburg’s Oncology Ward, where I offered free tattoos to cancer survivors, staff and anyone who supports the fight against cancer.”

Winston managed to complete 10 free flash tattoos on Monday as his contribution to Mandela Day and the fight against cancer.

“I started practicing tattooing in 2019 due to my love for art. I tattooed synthetic skin for two years before tattooing human skin. I’m versatile when it comes to tattoo types and I take on anything that a client wants to the best of my ability,” he concluded.
