The stolen cable links Manufacta substation and Westgate, and City Power anticipates that the repairs will be completed around 15:00, after which power will be restored.

City Power confirmed on Wednesday, August 3 that their teams and contractor are back on site along the South Road bridge to start with the repairs and ensure power is restored.

City Power spokesperson Isaac Mangena said it is worrying that the criminals managed to break through a newly built concrete bridge and rip out the 33kV cables without anyone noticing.

“One team is currently preparing the site for repairs, while the other team is fetching the remainder of the material needed to do the repairs. The stolen cable links Manufacta substation and Westgate, and City Power anticipates that the repairs will be completed around 15:00, after which power will be restored. We apologise for the inconvenience this has caused to the customers,” said Mangena.
