Westgate gives back for Mandela Day

The shopping centre commemorated the late President’s life by reaching out to early childhood development centres in the area.

“There can be no greater gift, than that of giving one’s time and energy to helping others without expecting anything in return” – Nelson Mandela.

Owner of Westgate Shopping Centre, Pareto Limited have heeded these wise words from our late former president, Nelson Mandela. The Shopping Centre commemorated the late President’s life by reaching out to early childhood development centres in Roodepoort, Soweto and Kagiso.

Early Childhood Development establishes the foundation for lifelong learning and encourages the holistic development of children. The emotional, social, and physical development of young children has a direct effect on their overall development, ultimately forming the adult they will become.

Westgate Shopping Centre identified the need to invest in Early Childhood Centres within their catchment area.

“These centres provide an important role in the communities Westgate serves and it is vital that we provide all children with an equal opportunity to maximize their future well-being,” Wiley Quinn, General Manager of Westgate Shopping Centre said.

Westgate Shopping Centre in partnership with Dorcas Aid SA subsequently donated educational toys to Africa Outreach Care Centre, and Khukunolwazi Daycare in Soweto.

They trust that their donation will help improve the lives of the little ones at these centres.
