Celebrate the spirit of the Father of the Nation this Saturday, July 16 at Hillfox Value Centre.
Whether one likes to give resources and items that can help everyday lives, life-saving blood or a little something for the animals, every avenue will be available on Mandela Day Saturday. Hosted by the South African National Blood Service (SANBS) in conjunction with several charitable organisations, they will be holding a multi-faceted charity drive in support of Mandela Day.
Residents with a giving spirit are urged to support the cause by either donating blood for the SANBS, drop off food donations for the Roodepoort/ Krugersdorp SPCA or bring child-friendly donations for Just In Time Baby Sanctuary. Round Table Florida 21 will be there collecting blankets for the destitute and all organisations will be appreciative of anything that could go towards improving the situation of another.
Not all donations have immediate consequences. The Organ Donor Foundation as well as their partners, the Centre for Tissue Engineering will be calling on the community to register themselves as organ and tissue donors. Organ and tissue donation are much the same, as in the event of the registered donor’s passing, healthy parts of the body can be sensitively retrieved and used to save or improve the life of someone else.
Come down to Hillfox Value Centre and look for the SANBS marquee tent. The organisations will be welcoming visitors from 10:00 to 15:00 so be sure not to miss this opportunity to celebrate life and Mandela Day this Saturday.
