Baby Moses had a Harley Christmas in July

The emotional connection between the HOGs and the children can be seen through their interactions. Both groups ran to greet each other, hugging and laughing.

Where the world tends to see bikers as tough, take no nonsense personas, the reality is they are a big family with an even bigger heart.

On Saturday, July 9, the HOG® Clearwater Chapter #7639 brought Christmas in July to a dozen children from Baby Moses Children’s Sanctuary in Helderkruin. The pack of bikers has been a part of the children’s lives for years, watching them grow up. The emotional connection between the HOGs and the children can be seen through their interactions. Both groups ran to greet each other, hugging and laughing. The children were escorted and marshaled to the venue by the bikes – something exceptional to see as they moved together in unison without any hiccups.

This year the group celebrated Christmas in July at Rusty Hook in Ruimsig. The day was filled with Christmas cheer as all the kids received gifts from ‘Santa’ and sang Harley Davidson-themed Christmas songs. Johan Smit, Captain of the Clearwater Chapter told the Northsider that the group has been taking care of the kids for many, many years.

“We also do grocery runs every week,” continued Johan. Throughout the day everyone in attendance pulled out all the stops to make sure that the kids left the party with smiles and hearts full of joy.
