Local author talks marriage

While celebrating their 10th Wedding Anniversary and her birthday this month, Bridgette added a third milestone to the month of July - the release of her book, 'When Married Life "Lifes" you'

With a passion for people and her mind set on doing something new every year, Bridgette Matjuda has dedicated this year to writing a book about marriage, and the ups and downs that come with it.

“I’ve been writing from a tender age way back in the day when it was cool to document one’s life in a ‘Dear Diary’ kind of way. I’m an avid reader and I absolutely love diving into a good book and binge-read until the end,” she said.

While celebrating their tenth wedding anniversary and her birthday this month, Bridgette added a third milestone to the month of July – the release of her book, When Married Life “lifes” you. Bridgette explained that the inspiration behind her book is her passion for healthy and happy marriages, and her parents. “They’ve been happily married for almost four decades now.

Bridgette Matjuda is excited to release her book.

“My heart bleeds over the current divorce rate and state of affairs where marriages are concerned. So it’s my small contribution towards a better society where marriages are concerned. That’s the first reason for writing my book,” explained Bridgette.

“The second reason is that every year I challenge myself to do something outside of my comfort zone. Last year I entered a beauty pageant and this year I decided to write a book in time for my birthday.” Explaining the process of planning and starting to write her book, she said, “I literally googled ‘How to write a book in a year’ and then I got a template from Chandler Bolt on how to write a book in 90 days. I’ve never looked back.

“I suppose a follow-up will depend on how well the book is received. In my younger days, my plan was to write an autobiography at the age of 70. Then the Covid-19 pandemic happened and it hit home pretty quickly that tomorrow is not promised to anyone, and that life is short as well as unpredictable. So I decided to bring that bucket list item forward.”

She completed her book in less than three months. “I’m not too sure how long I took planning the book but I remember brainstorming the ideas of the book for about a day or two. “I took the self-publishing route so books can be ordered directly from me,” concluded Bridgette.
