Two caught for attempted car theft

Four intruders attempted to steal a motor vehicle in Weltevreden Park. Two got away and two were arrested.

In the early hours of Saturday morning, the Call Centre at Beagle Watch Armed Response received an alarm activation from a client in Weltevreden Park.

According to their report, the client confirmed to have spotted four strangers in the driveway. The response officers were on the scene in just over three minutes and saw the four suspects fleeing the premises. Two suspects sped off in a getaway vehicle, while the other two fled on foot. According to Beagle Watch Armed Response Area manager Cobus Botes, the getaway car was reported to be a white Toyota Corolla.

The officers managed to apprehend the two suspects and confirmed that it was an attempted vehicle theft. The suspects were then handed over to the police.

“You need to know that if you commit a crime you need to be able to do the time. As Honeydew police we do not sleep; our people work around the clock to see that suspects are brought to book,” said Captain Balan Muthan, Honeydew SAPS media spokesperson.
