Former Roodepoort artist to drop debut EP in July

According to the talented rapper, music and dance have always been her passion, and it was tradition for her to dance or sing for family at family gatherings.

The 24-year-old rap artist and song writer Linda Kim Mahlangu never stops learning and following her dreams. In order to solidify her status in the game as one of the best rappers on the continent, she will be releasing her debut EP ‘9 TO 5’ in July.

Linda Kim was born in the East Rand and started pursuing rap and songwriting when she was in grade 10.

According to the talented rapper, music and dance have always been her passion, and it was tradition for her to dance or sing for family at family gatherings.

“I was influenced by watching Beyoncé’s live performances and her level of creativity so I began rapping seriously during hard lockdown by posting a freestyle on a 90s classic hip hop beat,” said Linda Kim.

Her first breakthrough came when she dropped her debut single called ‘Secrets’ on all platforms.

The song was so impressive that it was selected by YFM’s DJ Zan-D and OG Samke for their show #RepYourHood.

The song was voted number one on the charts for three consecutive weeks, while her second single ‘DAMAGE’ went viral on social media platforms and attracted the attention of industry media outlets, SlikourOnLife and HYPE magazine.

SlikourOnLife is an Urban (hip hop) publication catering for music fans through music, video, artist interviews, exclusive downloads and event coverage.

“To solidify my status in the game as one of the best rappers in the continent, I will be dropping my debut EP ‘9 TO 5’ in July.

“Hip hop fans are in for a treat because this is going to be my best work so far.

“The EP will be something the game has been missing for a while, and what you can expect is a great musical experience,” said Linda Kim.

Linda Kim told the Record that following her EP will be a high school tour and shows all over the country.

When asked to share a few words of advice for the Roodepoort youth, Linda Kim did not hesitate to encourage them to never stop learning and to follow their dreams, as well as exercise empathy and be there for one another because a little kindness goes a long way.
