The chilly June air could not dampen the excitement of the management and staff of the brand-new Kwena Square Clicks Health and Beauty store when it officially opened its doors today, June 30.
The new store is one of close to 20 Clicks stores and pharmacies on the West Rand, and customers can be assured that they will receive all the great services they have come to expect of the Clicks brand, and more.
What will be happening at the store’s official opening today?
Devan Chetty, the Clicks Regional Operations Manager, confirmed that the doors will open at 08:00 today, June 30, and customers will be able to shop until 18:00. This will be the case until Sunday, July 3, after which the trading hours will be from 08:30 to 18:00 (weekdays); 08:00 to 17:00 (Saturdays); and 09:00 to 16:00 (Sundays).
On opening day, customers will be treated to an official ribbon-cutting ceremony, music, friendly staff as well as some great prizes.
Devan said, “The first 100 customers will receive a delicious doughnut and there will also be ten mystery gifts for ten lucky customers. Apart from this, customers will be able to shop to their hearts’ content with all our other ongoing specials and promotions in store, which include the three-for-two offer, Pay Day promotions, More 4 Less promotions and clearance sale products.”
Customers shopping at the store from June 30 to July 6 also stand a chance of winning R1 000 CashBack every day. All they have to do to qualify, is to swipe their club card when they pay for their products.
What does Clicks Kwena Square offer customers?
Victor Makgolobotho, Clicks Area Operations Manager, said, “Customers can expect friendly staff, quick and efficient service at the tills, and great quality products. We strive to ensure that everyone visiting our store will leave feeling good knowing that they paid less.”
They also offer a range of colour cosmetics, skin, health and hair-care products, as well as a wide variety of baby essentials. “This is not all. There is the added value of club card points for customers when they swipe their physical club card, use the club card app, or enrol by using the WhatsApp channel,” Devan added.
The store’s pharmacy is not open yet, but Devan assured customers that this service will be up and running in two to three months’ time. Although there will not be a clinic, customers will be able to get their over-the-counter, acute and chronic medicines here.
“Vaccinations and other clinic services are offered at the Westgate and Clearwater stores,” Devan added.
Both Victor and Devan emphasised that the customers are their most important priority and wanted shoppers to know that they would receive only the best customer service from the Clicks Kwena Square store staff.
How does Clicks incorporate the ideal of Kwena Square shopping centre to ‘go green’?
Devan explained that the store is equipped with energy-efficient lighting, to ensure they use less electricity and emit less carbon dioxide.
The Clicks packaging is also changing to make recycling easier.
“Take this shampoo bottle for instance; if you remove the label, the bottle is a plain white plastic, which is the easiest to recycle,” he demonstrated.
Clicks Kwena Square: A convenient shopping experience
The Kwena Square Shopping Centre motto is ‘community-inspired convenience’ and this is something that the Kwena Square Clicks embraces.
Victor said, “We offer the community convenient shopping hours, convenient parking, a quick in and quick out option, great service and ease of shop. We also cater for the later shopper with later trading hours.”

Devan Chetty:
Devan is the Regional Operations Manager and holds an honours degree in retail management. His hobbies include going to the gym reading, watching Seinfeld, any outdoor adventure and he loves humour. One thing he despises is an environment that does not promote the development of people.
He had this to say about Kwena Square Shopping Centre, “ It is an amazing centre which gives us the opportunity to showcase our store and our offering to the consumers of the West Rand and Surrounds.”
Devan also had a special message to the Clicks customers, “Thank you for the support in the West Rand. We are excited to welcome you to our new store at Kwena Square. Our team is passionate about you, our customer, and, as Clicks, we are here to assist and support in your needs”.
Victor Mokgolobotho:
Victor is the Area Operations Manager in the Clicks group in the West Rand and manages a total of 15 stores with an annual turnover of about R500 million. He has studied for a National Diploma in Public Relations Management through the University of South Africa, completed a Senior Management Development Program at the University of Stellenbosch and holds various retail qualifications.
He describes himself as an ambitious leader who is passionate about customer service.
Victor had this to say about Kwena Square Shopping Centre, “I am excited to open Clicks Kwena Square to the community of Roodepoort. Despite tough economic environment and protests, and Covid-19 restrictions, I am glad we are able to open some stores. The opening of Clicks Kwena creates employment and also makes shopping easier by catering to their various shopping needs”
He concluded by saying, “I urge the customers to pop in a check out the ranges Clicks offer. Our purpose is to help customers feel good and pay less”.
