Those in need receive the gift of sight

When Seeff Helderkruin & Surrounds heard about this plea, they decided to lend a helping hand.

Seeff Helderkruin & Surrounds recently joined hands with the Wilro Park Lions Club for the first time in support of their ‘See the Change’ project.

This project, which later became known as ‘See and Hear the Change’ is mainly focused on assisting people in need of spectacles, but who cannot afford expensive eye tests, lenses and frames.

According to Lions Club Wilro Park president, Sandy van Heerden, they soon discovered the need for hearing aids as well, which they integrated into the project.

“One way we are able to offer specs and hearing aids is through our ‘See and Hear the Change’ fundraising project, and the donations of good-condition frames and hearing pieces we receive,” Sandy explained.

When Seeff Helderkruin & Surrounds director Christa Roos heard about this plea, she decided to lend a helping hand and on Friday, June 10 the Seeff team was thrilled to hand over a box filled with donated spectacles.

“It was a great honour and privilege for us to be a part of such an important project. The community was very receptive and contributed beyond our expectations, so we would like to thank everyone who is a part of our project. Although we are currently also supporting Fora, we will definitely consider similar projects in the future,” Christa said.

Sandy added that they were very grateful for all the donations and would like to sincerely thank the Seeff team for supporting the project.

“What a difference they made! Thank you for helping us to help others!” she said.

Members of the Lions Clubs of Roodepoort, Weltevreden, Helderkruin and Wilro Park are on duty at the Lions Eye Clinic every Saturday morning between 09:00 and 11:00 to assist those in need of support.

Since this is an ongoing project, community members are still encouraged to drop off their pre-loved hearing aids and spectacles at Seeff Helderkruin & Surrounds, located at 20 Toermalyn Street in Wilro Park, or the Lions Club Wilro Park.
