According to the organisers PYM is an active organisation in local schools and communities aimed at motivating and empowering the youth to stand for their dreams and future.

The seven youthful teams from the West Rand battled it out for the title of the first annual PYM Sports Tournament champions as well as cash prizes, a cup and medals.

The teams displayed great skills but in the end it was Yammy Young Fighters who were crowned champions after they beat Kagisano FC in the final, while Princess High School took third place.

The tournament was the first one PYM hosted and the organisers told the Record that they would have their 2nd Annual PYM Sports Tournament next year.

“The PYM is an organisation that is there to bring back the fallen and hopeless youngsters in our schools and communities. Many young people no longer believe in themselves and they do not see a future for themselves.

“The tournament was a success because our youngsters were able to explore and express their talent, and they got to know each other more, and build a friendship as a community.

“PYM is here to remind our youth that there is still hope and there is still a brighter future. Throughout these suicidal battles and the inner struggles that the youth face, we encourage them never to let go of the talent they have. In partnership with our sponsor, Wings of Deliverance we were able to make this event a success,” said PYM founder and chairperson, Mandilakhe Gqaka.

PYM is calling on all young people in and around Roodepoort between the ages of 18 to 30 who are available to volunteer to bring a change to local schools and communities.

Those who would like to join PYM are advised to send an email to pymcrew@gmail.com.
