Miss SA finalist visits children’s home

On Sunday, June 5 Miss SA finalist, Shevon Pereira paid a special visit to St Laurence’s Children’s Haven.

Shevon together with friends and family not only treated the occupants to a delicious Sunday meal, but also spent some time with the children in celebration of the upcoming Youth Day.

“I did a motivational talk with the children, focusing on Youth Day and the meaning behind it. During the talk I also motivated them to believe in their dreams and pursue their goals,” she said.

They also proved there’s no better way to celebrate Youth Day than dancing around and perfecting some popular TikTok moves. For the past 11 years St Laurence’s has held a special place in Shevon’s heart as she has always been concerned about the well-being of the youth.

“As always it was such a heart-warming experience. The children and the owners of the children’s home are incredible people – so welcoming and fun. They’ve taught me that your circumstances or struggles in life make you a stronger person and that there is always a bigger and more successful plan for your future,” Shevon explained.

Although she is looking forward to visiting them again, Shevon will be embarking on other projects she’s passionate about such as empowering women through entrepreneurship, cancer awareness as well as uplifting the community by donating food, school resources and clothing. She hopes to run a Winter Sock Drive for the children before spring.
