Community comes together for Clothing Drive

Within four weeks the target of 30 boxes of clothes were exceeded.

Nothing unites a community more than a common cause. During the month of May, Rietvallei Nursery owner, Marna le Roux brought the community together when she launched a Clothing Drive in support of the Cradle of Hope.

“In April we raised funds to send two girls on a hockey tour and it went so well that we decided to take up another project for the month of May. Since we’ve helped the Cradle of Hope in the past, we thought they’d be the perfect beneficiary for this project,” Marna explained.

Within four weeks the target of 30 boxes of clothes were exceeded and on Tuesday, May 31 Marna and her team dropped off an entire trailer load which mostly included clothes, as well as tinned foods and baby gear which included a pram, walking ring, car seat and feeding chair.

The Cradle of Hope was grateful for the donation and thanked the Rietvallei Nursery team for the heartfelt gesture.

“We never thought the feedback would be so immense. The community, and even some of our staff really opened their hearts and for that we are truly grateful,” she said.

“We want to make a difference in the community and that’s why we decided to support a different cause next. We want to provide help where help is needed.”
