According to the false statement residents of the Greater Roodepoort/ Randburg, Langlaagte/ Southdale and the Soweto areas should take heed of the outage that would affect the Eikenhof Pump Station and cause a water supply disruption in those areas.

JW stated clearly that the entity had not issued this statement and was distancing itself from such misinformation. Customers were urged to verify information with JW before passing it on to avoid unnecessary panic.

Furthermore, JW reminded residents of a planned Rand Water shutdown on June 3. The reason for the shutdown is the installation of a new non-return valve on pump set 20 at the Vereeniging Water Treatment Plant, and to tie in the newly installed F46 pipeline to the existing F34 pipeline.

The water supply to the Eikenhof Booster Station will be reduced by 50% and this will affect several areas in JW’s area of supply.
