A 43-year-old suspect was arrested and charged with malicious damage to property and attempted rape.
According to the Honeydew police the suspect was sentenced to eight years imprisonment for attempted rape, and one year for malicious damage to property respectively on Thursday, May 26. Detective Sergeant Tebogo Ditsego, is the investigating officer assigned to the case.
“This investigation required tedious and intense work by the investigating officer to secure the sentence,” explained Captain Balan Mutan, the Honeydew police spokesperson. “The suspect has also been linked to murder and rape incidents in Venda, which our detective went out on a limb to prove,” he added.
Ditsego also managed to obtain a warrant of arrest for murder and a warrant of arrest for rape in the case against the suspect. The investigation into these cases is ongoing.
“This shows detective Sergeant Ditsego really performed his duties well as an investigating officer,” concluded Muthan.
