BEPR expects first egg to hatch next week

Sunday, May 15 marked day 32 since the chairman of Black Eagle Project Roodekrans (BEPR) Gerald Draper confirmed to that there is definitely an egg on the nest as the behaviour of the eagles indicated so.
According to photographic evidence both Makatsa and Mahlori are doing an excellent job of brooding by relieving each other at regular intervals.
While the eagles share their incubating duties of the newly laid eggs, BEPR is expecting the first egg to hatch on about May 27.

On Wednesday, April 20 a photograph provided by David Whyte gave clear indication of the eagle’s behaviour as they were caught during a “change of shift” that took place in the morning.
