Officers inspected the vehicle and noticed that the vehicle identification number (VIN) on the body did not correspond with the VIN on the licence disc, which belongs to a blue Ford Bantam.

Officers tested the VIN on the body of the vehicle, and the results received showed that the vehicle had been stolen in 2019 as per a Krugersdorp Police case.

“The driver of the vehicle, a Zimbabwean national was arrested immediately and detained at the Roodepoort Police Station. The stolen vehicle was seized and booked in at the SAPS Lenasia VIS Vehicle Impound for further verification,” said JMPD spokesperson Xolani Fihla.
