Reatlegile Tlhabi is the winner of Mini Miss Africa 2022, a Little Mister and Miss Africa (LMMA) pageant that focuses on promoting the rich African culture and heritage as well as intercontinental tourism, and creating a social networking platform for all kids on the African continent.
The King’s School West Rand (TKSWR) Grade 5 learner who lives in Rangeview, Krugersdorp spent a week in Uganda where representatives from African countries gathered, and she walked away with the title Mini Miss Africa title.
Reatlegile said that when her name was called, she was in disbelief and extremely happy at the same time as the competition was tough.
“I had the pleasure of learning about other African countries’ various cultures and I have made lots of new friends from around Africa. Uganda is a very hot country and the food is very different from our food. An interesting fact about their food is that it is largely organic as they barely import any foods, and the driving there is not like South Africa at all. I cannot wait to start using my title as Mini Miss Africa to make a difference in Africa,” said Reatlegile.
The 2022 Mini Winners were Mini Miss Africa: Reatlegile Tlhabi from South Africa and the 1st Runner-up was Treasure L Kallon from Sierra Leone, while Aleeshabelle Nyambura from Kenya was named the 2nd Runner-up.
Reatlegile started modelling at the tender age of two and has won many other titles along the way.
Next year Little Mr and Miss Africa will be hosted in South Africa and Reatlegile can’t wait to show off South Africa to Africa.
In the beginning of the year, the media welcomed the good news that Uganda was set to host a Kids Continental Beauty Pageant, with the camp and grand finale at the prestigious Pearl of Africa Hotel Kampala on Friday, April 15.
Shortly after the announcement, many African countries confirmed that they would be sending representatives and these countries included South Africa, Botswana, Kenya, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Lesotho, Zimbabwe, Rwanda and the host Uganda.
Delegates arrived in Uganda a week before the grand finale for a boot camp that included inland trips to destination like the source of the Nile, Zoo, Buganda Kingdom, different restaurants to taste the local Ugandan dishes, and the different hills in Kampala City.
LMMA is a continental pageant for both boys and girls between the ages of four and 16. It’s aimed at providing a positive space for young Africans to celebrate the rich, diverse and dynamic African culture and heritage.
