Little Republic celebrate family, community and Earth Day at their annual day at the trains

Discovery-based pre-school has almost tripled its numbers this year with space for more

Little Republic Pre-School hosted their second annual environmental fun day at Len Rutter Park on April 23.

Celebrating the expansion of their family, the Discovery-based pre-school treated learners, parents, staff and community members to a free day of train rides. The day came with an environmental awareness theme, as each family contributed to cleaning up the park as part of their commitment to Earth Day. In between the rubbish collection, boerewors rolls, popcorn and free train rides given by the Rand Society of Model Engineers (RSME) were in order.

“We are overwhelmed with the support we received from the community and everyone who reached out to support Little Republic’s second Earth Day celebration. We would like to thank ER24 and Help24 for being there on the day, RSME for the venue hire, and SAPRO and Plastics SA for yet another generous donation to make the clean-up possible,” said owner and principal, Mandy-Lee Smith.

“While celebrating Environmental Month our children have been working very hard at becoming planet pals learning how to recycle and how important it is to help clean and preserve our oceans, protecting of our bees and all other animals that form and keep our ecological system strong and healthy. Our main objective is to spread awareness to our children and the community about protecting and keeping our Earth safe and preventing more pollution, creating a better future for all,” she continued.

“Our learners had a lot of fun during our recycling projects, science experiments and learning the recycle colours with songs and sorting activities in our BIG dustbins! Little Republic strives to plant seeds of love, kindness and respect in each child’s life. We are never too small to make a difference.”
