Watch video: Tables are turned on illegal dumpers

"Let this be a message to people around our area; if we see you dump illegally we will make sure proper steps are followed and you will pay."

On Thursday, March 24 the Honeydew Community Policing Forum (CPF) patrollers came across an incident of illegal dumping on Hendrik Potgieter Road next to CTM in Allen’s Nek.

The patrollers immediately requested back-up and they managed to block in the illegal dumper before he could get away.

Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) was dispatched to the scene and the illegal dumper and their vehicle were handed a fine.

“Let this be a message to people around our area; if we see you dump illegally we will make sure proper steps are followed and you will pay.

“Our patrollers are always vigilant when driving around, even off duty. Once again this has been proven while one of our patrollers was on his way to a meeting and spotted the illegal dumping.

“He called for assistance and managed to block the dumper in. Thanks to the security companies who backed up the CPF members,” said Honeydew CPF PRO Michael Steyn.

City of Joburg’s MMC for Environment and Infrastructure Services, Michael Sun also shared some kind words through a Facebook post, praising the Honeydew CPF patrollers for their work.

“Watch this satisfying video of illegal dumpers having to shovel building rubble back into their bakkie.

“Great job by the Honeydew CPF patrollers for catching the illegal dumpers; you really taught them a lesson,” said Sun.
