Richard Ndou, the accused in the JAM murder case from December 2020 recently received a lengthy jail sentence in the Johannesburg High Court. For the count of housebreaking with intent to assault, he was sentenced to four years in prison. He received an additional 22 years for the second count of murder, and a further eight years in prison for attempted murder.

“For counts 1 and 3, half of each term will run concurrently which means that effectively the accused will be incarcerated for 28 years,” explained Warrant Officer Dave Stanton, Honeydew Police spokesperson.

In December 2020, Ndou ambushed his wife on her way home. She was walking along a foot path across a veld near JAM on Marina Road, Honeydew, when he stabbed her 27 times. When bystanders attempted to assist, he stabbed one of them in the chest.
